I've got a lasso type tick remover that works well as the loop is spring loaded so you dont have to consentrate on squeezing as you pull, good for the ferrets for the same reason. The ticks come from long grass, i believe there is a higher popullation of them recently due to larger deer numbers.

Thanks to all for the advice, in hind site i would have been better off with something with a bit of collie in it to start off with, i'm going to give the long lead method a try and see how it goes.

Help, i had my two year old Beddy/Whippet recalling to a whistle well, she always had a think about it but always returned. However lately if she gets a sniff of a bunny she's off, and i mean off the other morning i had the dogs out for a quick walk before work and i had to leave her because she p***ed off. Unfortunatelly she was waiting for me outside the house when i returned home. She's a lovelly natured dog but no use to me if i cant take her within a mile of rabbits without walking round the fields shouting for her for the next hour. Is it a lost cause or can something be done.

I've had my S410 for 10 months now and i bought it new, the trouble is i cant seem to get anything better than 1 1/4" groups at 50 yrds and this is a gun which is renound for its accuracy. I have a MTC Cobra 3-9 x 50 and a Air Arms mod fitted, I think i have tried everything now, different pellet types, Bisley Mags, Air Arms Field Plus, Air Arms Diablo field, Accupel, Field & Trophy e.t.c I've tried the gun at different power levels i've cleaned and lubed the barrel, tried shooting with the rifle in a fixed possition on days with little or no wind, carefully inspected each pellet before us

12 Guage Mossberg Hushpower Pump-action shotgun

Like you say, a 12 bore would be much better for pigeon / crows. Id be very tempted with the 12 bore version of the mossberg hushpower, esp as it comes with both the moderated barrel and a normal barrel "free" - so you have extra flexibility. Might be worth having a word with hushpower and see what they say about semi autos. If they can moderate one of those, maybe something like an hatsan escort semi could be the answer? Ill have a look into that mate. Although at £500 quid the mossberg seems like the right price as well, -

Thanks, some good advice there. Should of mentioned its the 12 guage i was looking at as i have recently bought the 410 version, which i am impressed with. Really i am looking for a multi shot with the same level of noise control as noise is an issue on my permission, also my main job is decoying pigeon and crow which i am finding bloody difficult with the 410. Any advice is welcome. -
I have a beddy x whippet/grey, cracking dog for the rabbits but not interested in feather. I've got room for another dog at the end of summer so whats the best cross for feather.

I can't fault him when we are out walking, he never wanders far anyway but always comes when called, even if playing with other dogs, HOWEVER he sometimes decides to just sit down and look at me like i am crazy when i call him in from the garden VERY annoying!! i can tell him to sit and he either does it beautifully or he just completly ignores me, as for doing anything on command for anyone else...............forget it!! not a chance in hell, they do need a firm owner, i live in a 'up its own arse area' so am waiting for someone to have a go at me when i am being firm with him, all good fun

Some good advice, i'll take it on board. Thanks.

Point taken, but its easy to worry when your new to it.

It was about 50% sheep netting and 50% loose hedge so that might have been the problem. Like you said the one she got last week was just as the rabbit got in the long grass on the edge of a wood. she only stands 20" tts so would that be a handicap. Thanks.

I use the vacuum packed meadow hay and it does'nt get damp as it brings the ferret off the ground, but i'm sure thats where the ticks come from. Just pull em off thou.

I'm new to the lamping game so i'd like some advice. I've been training my Beddyxgreyhound/whippet for 12 months now and took her out properly for the first time last weekend and she got her first one, i was dead chuffed as she did'nt open up and retrieved the rabbit well. I took her out last night and with a better idea what i was doing i slipped her about seven times, three of the chances we got about 10 to 15 yards from the rabbit and out in the middle of the field before it bolted, but she did'nt get any. I was wondering is this down to the ground she was running on as it was fre

I've tried to guage distance the traditional way for some time now and i'll admit i'm shit at it. Even harder with the FAC at greater range.
-
Hi, just got myself a S410 SL EXTRA FAC and was wondering at what range you suggest zeroing my sights at. Just ordered a laser range finder as well, suppose you'll consider that cheating. Thanks.

I recently made a post saying that i had a few skeletons in my closet and wanted to know how you lot think i stood on getting my FAC air rifle and SGC. I was well advised and told to go for it, so i did. And i'm pleased to tell every one i was successful so thanks to all. On the subject of the FAC air rifle i've descided on the Theoben rapid, i have been on their website and at 30 ft/lbs you get 90 shots out of the 400 cc reservoir and at 50 ft/lbs i think its about 30 to 40. The question is can i set the gun up at home, and if not which is the best power to have it set at. Also wha
