Line bred lurcher x lurcher types lance

I think ive just seen the dog u mean on a old thread called razors offspring, is it black n tan with a bit of white? Strong looking animal, i think maybe too strong for what im looking for in the pups as my bitch is also strong built. Nice dog tho.

Don't go too far in the tall and racy departmental, as it don't necessarily go that you will get something 1/2 way between. Use a stud that would be a dog you'd own ,and would do everything you want.

Maybe the same cross as the bitch but showing the traits you want.

Just adding greyhound will add speed for sure ,but may not be as robust or sensible so as well as adding speed you could be adding recklessness too.

A lurcher that has had a good handful of seasons without too many injuries and a good catch rate ,would come before a dog only with speed to offer.

Makes alot of sense roybo, i am thinking more now of the lurcher rather than pure greyhound as the bitch is very steady and sensible and that is a trait i would be looking for in the stud and like somebody else mentioned on this topic the pure grey could take more than it gives.

Its a nice bitch but I'd be putting something leggier to her, if not a grey a working deer/grey and would keep some coat, working ability and legs.

Thanks and all shes going to is something leggy and as racey as pos, but other things must be considered also i guess

also my bitch is small in height but shes quite thick set, not whippetty. No offence to any whippet owners!!!

there is only one way to go with a bitch like that, if she is good enough, and your motives are genuine and that is a line bred coursing dog, greyhound would take more than it gives.

My reason for breeding her is so that ive  still got something of her when shes no longer here, ive been lucky enough to get something so like my old bitch in so many ways(temperament, brains, looks and expressions, and the way they both graft). My old bitch has been dead around 10 years now and i regret not having anything from her so thats my motivation for wanting to breed the bitch i have now. The only reason my brother gave me this bitch was because he couldnt beleive how very alike it was to my old bitch,

It’s a risk to see which way the pups will throw if you used the half cross. If it’s a bull x you are wanting over her then a decent line bred racey type will do the trick. You got to be 100% sure it’s the right dog and 100% sure if breeding off her is the right thing to do. ATB

Its a first cross wheaten greyhound and im not using him cos i want a bit of height in the pups, thats why im considering the straight greyhound. Shes well worthy of breeding from, and the right time is defo now

I don’t measure mine just guess usually lol my bullx bitch is around 26 I’d say she’s down with a friend helping him out and having some real fun

Ive got a 24tts half cross, i was going to use him but he hasnt really got the top speed,

How much as your bitch done lance and how long have you had her

Ive had her since she was about 16 month old and she was my little brothers dog, he gave me her just after my old bitch passed away. Shes had hundreds and hundreds of rabbits on the lamp and also daytime. Shes also had a fair few bigger ones in the lamp aswell, (not so many recently with her age).  Live to hand. She has also been on maybe 20ish???, with another dog but she does only have a quick go, she comes off before its over but thats ok cos she isnt that type of dog but she loves to have a go, broke to all livestock and  works well with ferrets. She follows command very well and is very obedient on and off the lead. She is also a much loved family companion and lives indoors with 3 youngsters.

Dont know anyone who would work a pure grey, suicidal tendencies, lack of brain, too much prey drive, great building block for producing a lurcher though when crossed with the right breed. Why the obsession with height most guys i know that think along those lines are posers that think a bigger dog makes them look the part i dont give a shit about the height of a dog just as long it can do the job.

Each to their own i guess, my bitch is 21tts and i want something bigger to make more of an all round type of worker

    That’s more like it ..

Fair enough i admit yeah i was wrong to put a pup up for stud, my mistake. Just got well carried away with his progress. Anyway hes doing fine but my bitch is 21 tts and i wanted a bigger size with as much pace as pos in the pups, thats why i was thinking straight greyhound.
