I have 3/4 whippet 1/4 collie, my first dog, he was the runt, got him soon after my son was born so i gave him absolutely no training atall before putting him out on the lamp at 7 or 8 months old. as I said my first dog and I did it all wrong but despite that he has now grown up to be a great dog in alot of ways, I broke him to livestock and ferrets at 3 years old with complete ease, he is a keen ratter , he is great at ferreting in harsh cover as he doesn't mind brambles or nettles atall and goes straight in and is good in the nets too, I would say his nose is fair but not great yet he marks
