  1. The only way I would take a shot at a bird in the air with my gun is if they were the same birds and presented in the same way as the ones in your avatar. Sorry I'll get me coat and hat!!. Mike...
  2. Look Folks use the old methods at your peril I did!!. I aquired a tick while stalking I was aware of the dangers of infection by just pulling off the tick and leaving it's mouth parts behind to cause infection. What I wasn't aware of was if you stress a tick as Kay said it WILL regurgitate it's stomach contents back into it's host, this is exactly what happened to me after I covered the little ba***rd in vaseline. Unfortunately for me the tick was a carrier for Lymes disease (google it),I started off with a circular red patch where the tick had been,a few weeks after I started getting tired ou

Well I tried to write what I got from sailing but it rambled on way too much. So if you love the great outdoors and by being on here it says to me you do,then you should love every minute of it. Mike...
  4. I may be interested so will echo the others and ask your location?, also would it be possible to get a trial?, and maybe some pics?,that's if the dog is still available as the thread is now a bit old. Cheers Mike...
  5. I know exactly what your going through fella as I had a stroke in march this year. Because of the problems with vision I wasn't allowed to drive for 6 months and I'm still not allowed to ride my motorbikes because my peripheral vision is still affected. I sometimes still have probs with the left side when I overdo it but the more I do the better it seems to get. The upside for me is the fact that I'm out on the land much more than I was pre-stroke the walked up rough shoot I just went on with ROB REYNOLDS was justified to my boss as therapy cos to me that's exactly what it was!!. It certai
  6. Myself and a couple of friends have Just had an excellent days shooting courtesy of Mick The Keeper and BOB REYNOLDS. There's birds galore Pheasant,Woodcock,Snipe,Mallard, and your usual various such as Pigeon,Crow,Squirrel, and the odd Hare. Definately worth anyones while getting a small party together and heading on down, or up whichever the case may be. I'll definately be back!!. Cheers Mike...
  7. Sounds like Ferret15's diagnosis is a pretty good one. As for why it happened you correctly explain that yourself out of condition and undernourished. If I were to run for over 45 minutes in the muggy heat we've been experiencing I would probably be worse and I'm over nourished. Carry a bottle of made up Diorolyte (electrolite drink in powder form) with you and make sure the dogs eating the right sort of stuff and let him build up his fitness and hopefully you'll not experience anymore problems. God I bet it freaked you though, thankfully you didn't panic and did the right thing give yours

  9. I was left about a dozen of these traps by my Uncle he loved em where as I have allus prefered a well set net. I have had times when bunnys have been lost when the nets have failed to purse due to getting snagged, or multiple bunnys have exited the same hole in quick succession before I've had the chance to block and re-set. The traps were made by ourselves without welding we cut the mesh to leave wire tails when you form the tube/tunnel you then wind the tails round the the opposite side which you have cut flat closing the tube/tunnel together. The end door is a circle cut from the same mes
  10. Just a quick question did any of you specify that you're dog is a working dog?. The reason I ask is a mate of mines insurance company refused to pay out on a claim because the injury was sustained while working, he told the vet he was lamping rabbits when the dog hit a piece of angle iron. The vet then had to pass on the info to the insurance company. And does anybody know of an insurance company that deals with working dogs? Cheers Mike...
  11. Fine looking Terriers mate Although I must confess I do like a heavier build I've had it proved to me on many an occasion that size has nothing to do with the gameness of a Terrier. One particular friend of mine has the exact double of your black n tan and it's gameness is unquestionable it has though recieved more than it's fair share of injuries, would it have recieved as many if it was more stocky I'm not even going to speculate. For what it's worth Woody I'd be happy to work 'em Mike...
  12. If your dog is constantly baying this usually indicates that he has got Charlie holed up and you need to dig. Remember when digging that the signal is being eminated from your dogs neck so please please keep checking the depth with the locator. when you reach the dog remember that he's going to be fired up like you've never seen him before don't just make a grab let him know it's you before you oik him out. you have then got a fox who is fighting for it's life to contend with DO either have a gun or someone with you with a gun to SAFELY despatch the fox remembering you are going to have a t
