    Just in case anyone's interested Johnny Kingdom is on BBC 2 tonihgt at 8.30. Appearently it is about Hares.........."Johnny wants to introduce hares to his plot. He talks to Bob Tovey, another wild man of the countryside who has spent his life working with hares."

    Been out clearing brambles on our little shoot today, and even though I was wearing gloves I had a hawthorn spike go into, and leave the end of the spike in my finger. Right on the joint. Can hardly make out the entry hole but I'm sure there's something left in there! Plenty of people on here must of had the same problem at some stage, especially ferretig and the like, so any helpful suggestions on getting what ever is in my finger, out of my finger would be gratefully recieved!! Just tried the hand in the bowl of very very hot water for about 5 mins but no sign of owt extracting itsel

    i wish it was as easy as that i can shoot from the back bedroom window thats where the pic was taken from but they are very clever even if the windows open and i am not there they know somethings up,lately i was watched them hopping all round the larsen tarp even walking up to it and them thinking that they look nice eggs in trap but hey we wont bother with that, thats a trap I had success with trap-shy magpies by turning the trap on it's side, so they walk in a bit like a "crow" trap. They'll still jump on the perch, as long as it's not too high.

    did you tell the farmer i smell a big cat? There is talk of such animals round here, but I wouldn't of thought even a big cat would take the head off!?! I told the main shoot organiser, ( I don't know the farmer), and I would image he'd tell the farmer when he dropped off some birds to him.

    I was shooting on Sat, (walking gun), and came across 2 dead sheep (fully grown) in a field, within about 100 yards of each other, but the one's head was about 8/10 foot away from the body. (The head was up the bank further, the body lower) I didn't have time to run over and have a decent look at any wounds, as I was lagging behind a bit anyway, but any idea what may have done it? Dog? badger? fox? I'm not wanting to know what could of killed them, but what would/could possible chew/remove the head (as I'm sure it wasn't there 2 weeks ago, I don't think it would of simply rotted off). I wis

    If you remove the fore-end you should see some stars stamped on the bottom of the barrels. One star- full, 2 stars 3/4, 3 stars 1/2, four stars 1/4, 5 stars imp cyl. I used to have a yeoman and that was 1/2 & full. Hope this helps!

    I'd give it a go. Ive caught crows, a jay, jackdaws using a magpie so I think it would porbably work. Even if it just gives the magpies a bit of confidence. Worth a go! Good luck

    Not sure if this helps, but would you consider.... a set of wheels with off road tyres on(winter), and your orginal wheels with road tyres on(summer).     Helloa! I'm sure there has been posts on this before, but I was wondering if anyone on here has seen any "big" cat activity? I know a few people who reckon they have seen things that could only of been a big cat, but has anyone else? I would presume most sightings would be at night,(?) and therefore only eyes, but would be interested in anyones views. Do you think they really are out there? Surely there'd be more evidence?
