Hi kerrie,

falconry is ace, i think you should look at running dogs next some great sport and very rewarding :D

A sporting chance is always the best form of hunting with the dog or hawk i think.

A day out with the dogs, hawks and a nice young "tom cat" could be fun B)

Yeah beddie whippets are nice lil dogs, how do you hunt with hawks? Do you walk up the land and fly the bird at what runs or flys, or do you use ferrets etc? I don't know to much about falconry though i have always been interested and a friend works at a center that does hunt days to.

Do you have much land where you can fly the hawks by you? I have a young lurcher that is just learning the ropes doing lamping mostly, there are some pics on my new thread.

I hunt in a couple of different ways with the hawk,i sometimes just let him fly through the trees and let him just follow me and the lab and then he might either see something himself or if the lab flushes something he can have a chase, the other way is i use a friends ferrets to bolt rabbits and then i either slip him off the fist or let him sit above a burry in a tree and wait for bolted bunnies.i also lamp rabbits with him too.ive got quite alot of land where i live to fly on so im quite lucky. :)
