Gafer, fair play to ya lad, your a self taught Artisan and your works improved greatly over time. You should get bang into the tooling, you seem to have the eye for it mate.

 

So from one collar maker to another, i tip my hat.

thanks doug I only do a little tooling when asked to not many people on hear like it I do only in small bits ya can ruin ya work by making it to buisy.

 

How ya keeping mate have you done owt of late

 

Yes bud ive been keeping my hand in, had a nice set of tools for Christmass, about 30 in total, couple of swivel knives etc, havnt tried them yet but looking forward to giving it a bash.

Barry Brown26, Gaffa's your man, im sure he could assist you with a starter collar set, its very thereputic is leatherwork, its a nice litte hobby to have on your lap of an evening whilst the girs are watching there soaps etc....

 

Tandy is a good starter site with Video's etc.....

I can do you a starter kit mate what was you after dog collar,knife sheaht the kit would have most of the stuff done you would just have to put holes in it dye it watter proof it then sew it simple beginers stuff pm me if ya interested

what i was thinking was more like a set of basic tools, leather and instructions so i could do it all myself. thanks anyway tho gafer

try tandy leather they do kits around £70 to £100 mark but it might be a hell of a lot cheeper if you buy it from leprevo have a look on there site

 

they've got for 37 quid that looks ok, think it can wait till next month tho. im waiting on a catty and when that comes i'll have no time ha ha ha

LOL, Yes, you do tend to collect things, I have around £30,000 worth of tools, fittings, materials and leather, last count I had 22 hides in my workshop and growing!

you sertanly do amass a load of stuff when working with leather thats for sure lol £30.000 :icon_eek: i ant got a clue about mine but its quite abit

30 grand is not really a lot to be honest, it was more than that but I've scaled it down to specialise in certain areas now

just got my veg tan to day better than leprevo oz :yes: just got to wait for my other roll of leather and some brass work from abbey so i can get on with the bits i have on back order
