roady 0
some of our lamping land for the lurchers consists of some hilly land that is bordered by rocks and heavy shingle totally unsuitable for the dogs to run, here many rabbits sit near there setts and just mock us knowing there untouchable, aswell as sport we are there also to keep the rabbits numbers down.its been probly twenty years since ive used an airifle and an awfull lots changed with them since then, what i can gather from the pre charged guns is instead of braking the barrel inserting slug firing the new rifle can shoot many more slugs.so where toying with the idea of buying a second hand rifle of this type to join the team when we are lamping any advice on the type of rifle to purchase looking at spending round about £300 and it must be pretty light as we walk the land.thankyou Quote Link to post
Guest Scuba1
Try to get hold of a air Arms S200 and get a multi shot conversion for it would be my advice to you. If you go with a single shot, the BSA Ultra is a nice little gun as well. But at the end of the day, what ever you get, it has to fit you so a trip to your local gun shop is your best bet or a morning spent at a shooting club near you and have a chat with the people there and try to try out as many rifles as you can get your hands on and then take it from there. There are some exceptions to this such as some of the Falcon and earlier Titan models which are single shot or the magazine and cocking hammer cycle seperately. Your budget will get you a S/H pre-charged air rifle but you will need to allow for some extra cash for charging equipment. Pre-charged air rifles carry a small tank of air (normally as a tube under the barrel but some have a small bottle) which you fill up from a diving bottle. There are pumps available for charging up airguns but that soon becomes tedious. In terms of the gun I reckon your best bet is to look out for an Air Arms S410 secondhand - these are a good magazine fed bolt action air rifle with a built in pressure gauge to let you see how much air you have left. Hope this helps Cheers Steve Quote Link to post

Thats what a forum should be, i had to take a break from the terrier forum its demoralising to see genuine novices post a question and get ripped to shreds by the keyboard cowards. If this is their first experience of the working terrier circle most of them will be put off ever starting and we have less voices to fight our cause.......p.s. that border in the photo under your name is a beauty,is it yours,do you work it.
