dehoffmeister 2
i got a lakeland bitch 16month old started showing her foxes at aboult 11 months old she was so keen on going to ground to get to her quarry she worked well for aboult 3 months then i took her out 1 day and she would not go to ground i knew their was a fox at home because my experience dog was pulling down . the only time the bitch wants to get involved now is at the end of a dig has any 1 else had this problem any suggestions . FOXBOY, YOU STILL HAVE A YOUNG BITCH, THAT IS PERHAPS DOING A LOT MORE THAN OTHER LAKELAND BITCHES OF HER AGE. I THINK FROM MY OWN EXPERENCE WHAT HELPS ONE YOUNG DOG TO ENTER, MIGHT BE APPLIED TO ANOTHER DOG AND THE RESULTS ARE DIFFERENT. SOME TERRIERMEN HAVE A GOOD EYE ( AFTER YEARS OF DIGGING AND ENTERING YOUNG DOGS ) CAN DECIDE BY THE WAY A YOUNG DOG WORKS FOR THE FIRST TIME AT THE END OF DIG , THAT FROM NOW ON IF SHE WANTS MORE GAME SHE HAS TO GO TO GROUND FOR IT. IF IT WAS MY BITCH I WOULD HOLD HER OFF FOR THE NEXT FEW MONTHS, WALK HER AND HAVE HER FIT AS FXXK, BRING HER TO THE COUNTRY TIE HER UP AT THE MOUTH OF AN EARTH THAT IS HOLDING, LET HER SEE ANOTHER DOG INTER THE EARTH, LET HEAR THE OTHER DOG WORKING THE GAME FROM THE MOUTH OF THE EARTH, BUT BEFORE YOU START DIGGING FOR THE GAME, I WOULD THEN REMOVE THE BITCH OUT OF SIGHT, SO SHE CANT SEE THE GAME BEEN DUG..... WHEN THE GAME HAS BEEN DUG I WOULD BRING THE GAME TO THE MOUTH OF THE EARTH WERE YOUR BITCH WAS, GET ONE OF THE LADS TO BRING YOUR BITCH OVER, ( MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A LOCATER COLLOR ON YOUR BITCH, BRING HER WITH IN FOOT OF THE QUARRY ( GET THE BITCH ALL FIRED UP WITH EXCITEMENT RELEASE THE GAME UP THE EARTH AND THE BITCH TWO SECONDS LATER, DIG HER QUICK, BUILD HER CONFIDENCE AND DONT EVER LEAVE A WORKING TERRIER WORK GAME AT THE END OF A DIG. I COULD GO INTO A LOT MORE DETAIL BUT I WONT ON THE INTERNET, AT THE MOMENT I AM TRYING TO PUT DOWN ON PAPER ALL MY UPS AND DOWNS OF BADGERS DIGGING / AND FOXING DIGGING, HOW I ENTERED TERRIERS ,HOW I WENT WRONG, AND HOW I HAD SUCESS WITH LOTS OF MY DOGS, PHOTOS OF THE DIGS ETC TO BADGER ALL PRE ( 1970s ) of course, it will be an underground book ( sounds dodgy ) but it will cover some of the digging men i have dug with in ireland, it wont please everyone, but it may help or give a few tips to up coming lads starting the game, it wont be for profit. foxboy, i cant tell you what i would do will work, but its a guide to one step i would take with your bitch, best of luck in the future with her ......... p***y. p***y i really do hope you will put up that book some day dont show me on it though only the dogs Quote Link to post
