s horsfield 7 Posted April 22, 2009 Report Share Posted April 22, 2009 hi lads just got my sgc, i know this sort of thread must of been up alot of times . all i want to start with is somthing cheapish to get me going, but side by side or over and under which do you think is the best for a beginner.Not botherd 410 or 12g. chimp 299 Posted April 22, 2009 Report Share Posted April 22, 2009 well i had it in my head i was going to get a semi auto but after trying a few i went for an o/u . the reasons for me not getting an auto is you may not get invited on shoots and also some clay grounds dont like them. mine fits like a glove and shoots nice and i paid £450 from gunshop but i dont intend to sell it Quote Link to post
Sterry 0 Posted April 22, 2009 Report Share Posted April 22, 2009 SBS or O/U is pretty much entirly down to personal preference, i prefer SBS as im retro and i find it bit better in terms of weight, comfort (when it broken over my arm) and i like how they come up. that said O/U guns are just as capable as SBS. as for calibre, this depends on your build and age. presuming your over the age of 14ish and of average statue id go with the 12bore, the cartridges are cheaper (when compared to all calibres especially .410) and the much wider choice of cartridges.
