Yo Kay! here's my birdtable, not expensive, not technical to build, the post I used is an eight feet fence post, put into on of those red spikes you see in garden centres, I used 8ft because the cats seem reluctant to jump that high if they dont know what they are jumping to, the table part is 2ft x 18 inches wide, the bar at the top that the feeders attach to is just some old tube that was laying in the shed, I put my feeders on swivels to stop the wind snapping them off, under the table platform there is hooks for fat balls, starlings are less likely to see them under there, the two perches are for collard doves, I like them, so they are catered for, also other birds feed there young on them, which is always interesting to watch, normally I have a niger feeder on the end of the empty pole, forgot to put it back up when I filled it, so its not in the pic, everyone has there own way of doing a birdtable, my neibours dont get much on there's and its a fine thing to look at, its a gared centre job, made more to look good in the garden than be usefull to birds maybe, hope this helps your dad out, lets see yours when its built, in fact lets see ever bodies tables.
