davyt63 1,845 Posted April 13, 2009 Report Share Posted April 13, 2009 hi every one now my mate charlie is back up and shooting after his hernia op, hes been of for about 8 weeks so he is keen to get back at it . i decided to take him over to the business park for a zeroing session before we started on are chosen quarry. so we set up most of are targets and some home made ones that charlie had made whilst he was of, and started to have a plink with different pellets and he settled for AA FEILD 5.52 i also use these and accupells. here is a pic of the range then after an hour we decided to have a mooch round,we spotted some jackdaws and headed for them most fooked of but there was one left, so as i drove into position charlie shouldered the AAS410K and THWACK down it comes stone dead 1-0 charlie then we moved on after none of the others would land all we heard was there war cry, to let the others know we were about. we went down to the flag poles where the pigeons are shitting all over them so the site manager wants rid of them, but nothing there so had a little slow drive round the park and saw a pigeon in a apple blossom tree eating its petals, its on my side so hard luck chaz. cross hairs locked a slight wind just watching its movement slightly swing and got the timing spot on THWACK of he went and going down all the way a result 1-1 so we decided to put the pigeon down in range and put the jackdaw by him to lure others in, and sat and waited but not much happening. then a pigeon landed in the trees about 50 yds away and i said to chaz get your rifle in and i will drive over to it very slowly, of we go i got within 30 yds of it and stopped just in case it fooked of, up come the S410 again and THWACK a lovely shot it came straight down dead before it hit the ground i was so impressed with my apprentice hunter that we instantly hi fived each other . you know what i mean one of those special moments buddies have when you both know it was a sweet shot. 2-1 chaz so in the bag it went and then we went up to the top of the park we spotted some wood pigeons in the tress hard luck again charlie my side, the trouble with this shot there was some Harris fencing up protecting the building materials that are on this permission. so i switched in to HFT mode because some of the shots we experienced at that week end were obstructed but you had about 15mm to get the shot right.so had to get the CRV just right, up we go with the S410 target at 25/30 yds THWACK another one bites the dust and a high five from chaz. now 2-2 we went back down to where we set up the decoys and still nothing but spotted a pigeon, YES on my side again it would of BEEN RUDE not to thwack it so i did THWACK 3-2 i tinks it is to me, i think the lead was to heavy for it cos it also came straight down.and a good finish to the day. on the way home charlie said he wouldn't mind trying some wood pigeon so i have taken a leaf out of my buddy's book hyperion and went home and took the breast of from this to this nice breast impact and pellet happy hunting davy Quote Link to post
