Guest hyperion
only today he brought his air rifle along instead of the hawk! met up with adam at half six this morning to go and shoot some woodies near the farm yard, when we got there we set up in a stand of trees that normally sees good numbers of both pigeons and crows, there were a few birds moving about but nothing like the numbers i normally see down there! any how within half an hour id bagged a crow, taking a tricky over head shot to drop it almost at adams feet, then soon after adam missed another crow and then it went dead, just a few birds sailing down the tree line and showning no interest what so ever in dropping in! after a hour or so of nothing happening id had enough and thought why not try out my new hide and an old trick! quickly grabbing up all our gear i leapt, gracefull as a nose diving pig, across the stream and set off for the silage clamp hide i built yesterday! now for the old trick! every one knows that crows and other birds not having any fingers and only one beak can only count to one so after stuffing all our gear into the hide and making sure adam was happy i wished him luck and set off for a wander round the yard and nearby fields making sure the crows in the trees down the lane saw me leaving! as i got up to the calf pens i could already see the black shapes moving down the tree line and power cables towards the silage clamp, a quick mooch about yielded nothing for me but after half an hour or so all hells broken loose about the clamp, crows and rooks wheeling about screaming and cawing in rage! sure enough as i got back to the hide theres adam with his first ever crow taken off the wall of the clamp at about twenty yards, so then it was my turn to have a go with the hide, off adam went and i settled back to wait, it wasnt long before i knew that hide was good as it aloud me to take a jackdaw at no more than ten yards as it fed on the ground in front of me, then soon after a rook dropped onto the power lines and i dropped him with a short range body shot, then finally another rook dropped off the wall of the clamp with a cracking head shot at thirty yards! shame the pigeons didnt work out but it was a good morning any how! cheers hyperion Quote Link to post

Freddy Watts 1
Didn't you post that question in hyperions last thread. Can't remember what the gun was but the trigger guard you can see is the underlever cocking mechanism. Go take a look at the other thread if you want to know more as lots of answers were put there. Hope that helps Freddy Quote Link to post
