snoopdog 1,256
hi lads im after a rabbiting dog to work with mt ferrets, have chance of a well bred whippet pup but wondered if i could go for an odd hare with it,if so how many runs could i expect?yep a whippet will catch the odd hare ...most lads i know run types saluki x types......i think a whippet would do well on the hares local to me because it early pace you need most of the time or there gone....into cover rushes ect ect....i think if you got one with a good nose it would do well ....alot of folk seem to think hare coursing is all about point and slip...now the big open land like the fens ect ect will take some beating for hare coursing but i will tell you hearing the breaking of rushes and your dog bursting out of them rushes in hot pursuit of hare also takes some beating... .....you work the hares local to me you see plenty but there mostly in the open pockets of reeds rushes most of the time hard for your dog see ....a whippet with a good nose and a good strike would put you a few hares in the bag......just ingnore some people mate,....we all now hare coursing is illegal but you where just asking a question right......
