hound 1
not great money the only way you can earn good money is work for big firms like i do and make your money up on sales and overtime. but you must enjoy ticking little green boxes on routine vists to sites. but they do put you in for all your tickets like bpca, but then i aint a normal pest controller as i also fly birds of prey for my company Quote Link to post
Mitch 0
I was thinking something along the lines of doing my apprenitceship and working during the week, Then on the weekends snaring trapping and ferreting for people. That way i can enjoy my sport and hobby, and have the money to support it. If i earned money from ferreting ect,,, that would be a bonus Because when I think, You would have to be a feckin good trapper to do pest control. You would have to know your stuff and get results otherwise they wont pay you. Quote Link to post
Guest sushie
I would show them that you are a sensible and responsible person also show them any experience you have that you think is relevant to the job! Goodluck with it mate hope you get the job! Quote Link to post
Guest ruraltrapper
I work as a rural pest controller near Winchester, Hants and make a reasonable living. My work mainly involves rabbits, hares, moles, squirrels, mink and rodents. I also make money vacuum packing and selling my rabbits, hares and squirrels this can account for nearly half of my weekly income. Most of my clients are farmers, estates, golf courses, forest management companies etc, but don't sit and wait for the phone to ring get out and drop your cards and flyers around the farms, village shops and advertise in parish magazines. Guest ruraltrapper
Nice one - I sell mine between £2.50 and £3.50 packed. I pack the small ones two or three to a pack. The crappy ones go the the local hawk conservancy trust for 50p each gutted. Quote Link to post
Squirrel_Basher 17,102
Is there much money in it? Sick of working for a living Pest control for money is not a job but a way of life as is keepering ,ghillie and full time stalker .Not to be taken lightly by anyone .long hours ,unsocial hours and the willingness to put yourself out when called .Thoroughly enjoyable- Quote Link to post

Guest sushie
I have recentley got my certificates for using poisons and gas and gained certificates in rat, mouse and mole control. The only downside is i dont drive at the moment! When i get my licence back i will have to start my own business as none of the local pest control companys will take me on as they wont be able to insure me! So if you have a clean driving licence you should have a good chance if you have the right qualifacations! Quote Link to post

Guest ruraltrapper
I have the NPTC certificate in Vertabrate Control along with Adas and Lantra tickets. 75% of my work is rabbits and the rest is made up of moles, squirrels, mink and rodents. In this area of Hampshire there is enough work to keep you busy full time on rabbits. I also am a member of the UKPCO. Quote Link to post
