Lee85 44
Alrite, I've just got myself a Logun Solo .22 I'm looking to get a lamp for 'lamping' but on a low budget, ie. £20. I've read somewhere that even this would do: http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.203-5039.aspx and i'm also looking at this: http://cpc.farnell.com/LA03015/electrical-...d-cr-2008s-1-ab Also, whats the deal with lamps, do you want something that's gunna really blind the rabbits or just something so that you can locate them them? Cheers If your going to be lamping on your own you would ideally like a gun/scope mounted lamp, these do start of pretty cheap but if you want a bit better quality piece of kit with longer range you will be looking at spending around 70-90 quid. Heres a link to a goo online shootign shop with plenty of choice for lamps : http://airgunbuyer.com/subcat.asp?cat=Lamping%20Kits . Sure youll probab;y get some better info as more people read yer thread. ATB Hughesey Quote Link to post
Lee85 44
cheers for that, i'll take a look. I'll be going with someone and we'll probably alternate between rifle/lamp. Quote Link to post
SEAN3513 7
the lamps you are looking at are ok, but you will need a mate to go with you. ideally you will need a red filter aswell ( you could adapt a piece of coloured perspex) the downside is that they dont last very long. i use a scope mounted nigtsearcher lamp which lasts on a full charge for about 3 outings and shines out to about 200m. these lamps are designed for the purpose anything else comes a poor seccond. that said......your choice will get you going until you have the funds to treat yourself. all the best sean Quote Link to post
ghillies 209
ok.. for the big twat lamp types yu wants a 12v with a dimmer switch and filters... red or orange at least. heres how it goes... 10 million candle power is brill for watching the neighbours abour a mile away lol literaly! theyre ok on fox or summut but well.. they tend to cook things on the spot close too lol. 6v logans are ok on white light but go a bit naff for the full 50 yard rabbiting on a red filter. brill for ratting on red though. stuff like the fenix TK10 are 200 luminum on max and 60 on low, the 60's plenty on its own for airgun and weighs very little.. any CREE led light will do it, so check our ebay.. 200 luminums with a fenix does light up bunnies at 200 meters.. 140 does the hundred yard mark etc etc.. filters cut the overal distance down a fair bit.. but even on 60 lum's its well usuable filtered. end of the day over volt some 4.8v kryptoms for airgun ranges. the actualy 'lamped rabit' wghere it stays put is few and far between.. bit of a knack at times too... so blairing lights do tend to be a pain long turm, espetialy if your trying to shoot at the 30 yard mark...so dimmers are well handy on the bigger stuff.. theyre handy full stop even on the littler lights. I know the "stuff" your talking about haha. As to the red filter I am not entirely sure of the reason its used. Hughesey Quote Link to post
daniel8822 0
i think the red filter will make them less spooked but if u go lamping regually they will start to get more spooked over time Quote Link to post
SEAN3513 7
the red colour is far less noticeable by the rabbits ( allegedly than cannot see red ???) i always use a red filter and it never seems to spook the rabbits, dont get me wrong its not the magical answer that will enable you to bag more bunnys, but coupled with good fieldcraft it will improve your success. cheers sean Quote Link to post
Timelord 0
i think the red filter will make them less spooked but if u go lamping regually they will start to get more spooked over time What limited vision rabbits have is in the blue spectrum so red being the oposite of blue is the right choice to use when hunting them as they don't see red so well. Lee85 44
I'm thinking of building a little 'coup' out of logs and twigs and camoing it, and hiding in there, its a bit of an open field where the permisson is, they tend to stay near the edge and then run off into the woods at the other side. roll on the weekend! gazguildford 0
I'm thinking of building a little 'coup' out of logs and twigs and camoing it, and hiding in there, its a bit of an open field where the permisson is, they tend to stay near the edge and then run off into the woods at the other side. roll on the weekend! went lamping on my new permission last night for the first time and bagged 3 bunnys not good considering i should of had about 20 but hey ive never done much lamping before only my fourth time i think and that was a white light. i think anyone can lamp the rabbits but using ur lamp practising ur field craft and actually getting your shots away is a different matter i can do all 3......... but im not great at reading distances in the daylight so when lamping its even harder but practice makes perfect i got an ultra fire lamp from recomendation from timelord its cheap very powerful and lightweight excellent for starting up get in touch with timelord he will give you the site atb gaz Quote Link to post
