Transport dilema?

Right,ive got a transit luton which im selling cos its too big to drive around in and it costs a fortune to run.

 

I reckon i'll get about 1500 to 1700 quid for it when i sell it,and then im looking to get a motor to runaround in and do my dogging in :ph34r: :laugh:

 

Ive been thinking about an astra or escort van,mebbes even a vauxhall combi van,im only gonna pay upto 750 quid for whatever i buy and it has to be a diesel.

 

So,anyone offer me any advice on any of these vans,or would i be better getting the equivalent in a car?

I know sometimes it can be hard getting a van insured for personal use,so i might just go for the car option.

 

Its mainly gonna be used on local runs,but every 2nd week i run down Hull to see me girlfriend ,so fuel economy is very important.

Estate cars are more practical, you can open the back windows in the summer for the dogs. You have side doors aswell as the hatch for access. You can either fold up the seats or take them out completely, but you will still have extra seating just in case. Plus estate cars are cheaper to buy cheaper to insure and probs have had less wear and tear than most old vans.

Ive probs had more vans, estates and cars than most of the men on here...not by choice admittedly :laugh::laugh::o

serious women set me on a down ward spiral :no: when i was 18 i got a xr2 , thought i was the nuts !! 100mph everywere , any way i stupidily thought with my todger an let this bird i fanceyed drive it in a qiuet street . Any way she crashed it into a lampost :no::no::cry::cry: an to top it of i never even got as much as a smelly finger :o the shit i had to listen to from my dad for months afther :rolleyes:

 

ive done nothing but destroy cars vans an truck ever since

yes those astra estates are good vehicals ive had two and theyve bin excellent,never had any problems untill some dickhead pissed out of his brain crashed into the back of one of them when it was parked up,and joy riders pinched my other one.dont know why cosw they wouldnt have had any joy out of it cos it stunk :D:D:D

Combo vans nice little van's. Cheap to run with diesel, even cheaper on veg oil.

 

They are fast enough for a van, handle well nice to drive.

 

Plenty of room in them, over head storage in the front and storage space in the rear of the van, where the curvy thingy is.

 

Back doors rather than up & over door. Spot on for lamping from back of the van :good:

 

If you need something bigger, go for the fiat scudo. Good sized van and can get the 3 seater version. Again nice driver, twin side doors.

Ok so the astra estate is leading by a few lengths now,closely followed by the combi,and the scudo is hanging onto the combis tail. :laugh::laugh:

Ive had 2 astra estates, and 2 astra hatch backs and hated every one of them :laugh::laugh::laugh:

Loved the little corsa diesel though :D

my mates just bought a vectra TD estate bit of ticket on it for 500 notes just to get him skeggy and back weekend lots of room in them, good engines.i can think of worse motors to get for your budget.

if your willing to splash out a bit extra for the scudo, go for it.

 

45mpg on a run

 

but the combi will do 55 on a run. You can get the scudo in a three seater version. ALthough it will be a bit tight in three seats, your still insured for 3 people in the van so they can just sit in the back.

 

Nice & easy to board out I'd reccomend getting a fitted bulkhead, or make one yourself with plyboard but you want the load space FULLY seperated because its quite noisy with the side doors

 

& they are a nice height for lamping off the back of the van. Not too high & not too low.

Anyone got any experience of the bigger type Rover cars? They seem to go fairly cheap,any reason as to why? Most of them seem to be turbos,have they got dodgey turbos on them?? :blink::blink:
