SwissTony 0
A few of us went out over the weekend, to give the little beasties some work. First up was a 8 holer on a fairly steep bank covered in brambles. Netted up and unleashed the little albino jill. After about a minute, out popped the first rabbit of the day which promptly got pounced on. The jill followed it out, but went straight back down as soon as the rabbit was out of her reach. A couple of minutes later, the second rabbit got caught in one of the furthest nets, so the chase was on to get there in time before it got free. Waited around for another 5 minutes, with the jill popping out and in most of the netted holes, then decided to move on. Next was a few holes in the bank of a dried out ditch, again covered in brambles. Chucked the jill in again as she seemed to be well up for it. It was quiet for quite a long time, before we heard the rumble and out shot number 3, going at quite a speed. Nothing else found in this hole. Next was a huge area littered with holes. There must have been around 70+ holes in total. Both of my ferrets went in, much to the relief of the hob, who had been scratching at the inside of the box for most of the morning. As soon as the ferrets entered the warren, it went mad, there were rabbits getting caught in nets, left, right, and center. We stayed at this hole for quite a long time, as we thought there would be plenty in there, but in the end, we ended up with 10 in total, up to 13 now, overall. Onto the next warren, which was only around 5 holes. In went the jill to bag another 2. The last place we went to, was just inside the entrance to a woods. The whole of a large bank was riddled with holes, so we were very optimistic. In went the beasties, who were now looking tired. 10 minutes went by before we heard the familiar rumbling, out came number 16, bundled up nicely in my handmade spun poly net. Over the next half an hour or so, we managed to bag another 5, bringing the days total to 21. Not bad for my beginner ferrets. We dished the rabbits out amongst ourselves, then went our separate ways. It was at this point I remembered I needed a photo for the forum. Only 7 in the picture, as that's all I was left with. Can't wait to get out again, although I fear that the season may almost be over P.S. I don't photo well Edited February 27, 2009 by SwissTony Quote Link to post

SwissTony 0
No digging at all Thought we were going to have problems at one point, the hob had been down for quite a while and the mk3 was having issues due to some corrugated iron sheets that were buried close to where we had entered him. We gave him plenty of time to do his thing, then he appeared with a blood smear on his chest. Pretty sure that it was from one of the previous rabbits we had got as one of the ferrets must have chomped its nose as it was very bloody. Plenty of young in them when we gutted them. Practically every rabbit we got, was a very decent size, as no one had been controlling them for quite some time. Quote Link to post
