kobidog 1
I am now the proud new owner of a new BSA Tactical XL and it has already claimed 3 pigeons and 1 jackdaw lol, but when out shooting the other day i noticed that it didn't seem 2 be shooting at a good power and lots of shots at pigeons it just nocked off there feathers. Can anyone tell how i can test its power? It is meant to be shooting at 11.5ftlb's Quote Link to post

Big bald beautiful 1,231
NO it will tell you it has power but you cant tell between 10 and 13, and 13 ftlbs is fac Quote Link to post
SEAN3513 7
chronographing is the ONLY way. you cannot tell if its down on power, you are probably not hitting the target (pigeon) properly. i take it the gun is new????..........take it back to where you bought it at have it tested. all the best sean Quote Link to post
kobidog 1
yep the gun is new and i also heard a strange ping sound when i fired that i hadn't heard before. Also when you said not hitting the pigeon properly did you mean skimming it?because that is what i thought until it happened to about 4 others Edited February 24, 2009 by kobidog Quote Link to post
SEAN3513 7
skimming them is what i meant..........have you checked your scope zero if its an all new set up it, the scope may have moved / settled/ need tightning and re-zeroing?? i would take it back mate and certainly wouldn't use it until its been tested. bit of a bummer with a new gun....but it happens. cheers sean Quote Link to post

Big bald beautiful 1,231
are they bsa scopemounts because normal scopemounts are different to bsa scope rails. this could be the problem Quote Link to post
kobidog 1
no i have checked it and it is perfectly sited in and it is a Hawke scope so i don't think the scope mounts are BSA. Quote Link to post
