JPTfellterrier 65
you could draw up an agreement that they have to sign i supose! with things on it for example the article must be proof read by us before printing, the article must look at both sides of the arguement, no other people are aloud except for the reporter, photographer and people in question etc etc Quote Link to post
LDR 29
Let me give you a scenario................ You're out lamping with this reporter and you're dogs running fine, bagged a few rabbits and then she misses one, whilst on her way back to you a fox, badger, deer or hare gets up in front of her and she's away off after it!!!!! Not many dogs once in full pursuit and pumped up will be called off, you then not only have at least 2 independant witnesses, you also have photographic evidence!!!! We all know accidents can happen, but do you really want your accident splashed on the front page of the paper with your mug shot next to it cos thats what will happen!!!!! Or maybe you're out and the nights going great and then your dog hits a barb wire fence, dry stone wall farm machinery anything that we have to encounter, and your dog is ripped open, legs broke or even killed, you'll be gutted, you'll have pictures of your dead or injured dog plastered all over the front page, and they'll give the headline........ "Animal Welfare........you decide!!!!" Thats just 2 scenarios and given another couple of hours, i could give you pages of them!!!!!!!!! Quote Link to post
Guest miller1989
well graham your a fool if you actually go through with this and anybody who is thinking this is a good idea need to think a little bit more or maybe read a few papers one little thing happened a few year ago where a man out hunting came across a farmer trapped under his tractor and saved this mans life and the newspaper in question ripped this man apart as he was poaching with dogs there was loads of publicty about this man for tresspassing and not alot about the fact he saved a mans life the man even got arrested for carrying a knife at the scene please think about what you getting yourself in for papers dont want to prove people wrong about hunting they would rather see us as farm thieves and mindless thugs and someone taking them out is not going to help at all Ive took everything in here, and i can see both sides of this but if he dont mind his name in the paper and photos etc as long as it all goes well youve proved to 3 or 4 people out of millions thats its not all that bad and if the write-ups wrong again--- which it may well be, if he can cope with that and put the complaint forward again and again and again untill they get it correct! 3 or 4 in a million is better than none! Im sure theres alot more thinking and planning to do before this goes ahead but with some good thought and a bit of planning ahead i still cant see a realy realy bad side of this........someone enlighten me please! Guest hpool_hunter
to be fair - the younger generation is the key to the survival of our chosen * sport* , as its them who will carry it on , .. so age asnt got a thing to do with it , both arguments on this are good and bad , and could do good by giving an insight to the sport , or bad and tear it apart , could go either way , is it worth a try , who knows? you wont know untill you try . my own opinion is if planned right , it could be a good article , but as pointed out ,how many people can honestly call their dog off a hare when been put up? so like LDR says - plenty of things to go wrong , its upto YOU to weigh up the PRO' AND CONS . all best with what ever happens HH Quote Link to post
LDR 29
You'll need public liability insurance too to take them out on land you have permission on!!!! Quote Link to post
