Upgraded S400 .22

Recommended Posts

The story goes i bought the S400 Carbine brand new along with the mag conversion as couldn't afford the S410. Now a month down the line i walked in my local gun shop and he had a S410 just been traded in, so after some talking and a little cash and stuff i have walked out with the S410 :clapper: Only thing is it's a classic, no problem just a tad longer. Also it's a .177 and i've never used 1 before so are there any main differences i should look out for ? Going out tomorrow with it :clapper: as i've got no work

Forgot to say it's also got a custom brass bolt and a nice silencer, quiter than the A.A

S410 Great gun A few of my friend had it but i always go for the.22 as i find it is not distance but how good an aim you are.Plus most air rilfle shots are no more then 50 yards.and the bigger pellet hits harder at this range :gunsmilie:

You can kill a rabbit at 50 yards with most good air rilfles.Been there done it.To name a few TX200 mark two,Pro Sport,Wieruch HW80,W80 CarbineLogun S -Sixteen,Teoben Rapid Seven,Air Arms S510-SL Carbine all you have to know is where the kill zone is and be a good shot all these rilfles will kill at 50 yards useing 15.9 grain pellet at 12/fb.

you can kill a rabbit at 75 yards if you hit it in the right place............but

as 8shot pointed out 35 yards is an almost gauranteed kill and anything further you are increasing the risk of injury, so why risk it, just stalk another 15 yards.....???? so it is GOOD advice.

to answer the original post.............the best advice is to get out and use your new AA S410 you will soon adapt to the trajectory if you get out with it when you can, after a decent zeroing session you will be nearly there, make sure you are familiar with it before you start hunting.

good luck and let us know how you get on

all the best

What Are you talking about. As 8shot pointed out at 35 yards it is all most gauranteed. If 8shot is no good over 35 yards fair play.As i said any good air rilfel. In the wright hands can kill at 50 yards easy and any one who know,s anything about hunting with guns will know to zero and get familiar with it before they start hunting. And by the way no shot is ever gauranteed even at 35 yards.

nobody said anything about anybody being no good over thirty five yards.

this is a good topic and does not deserve to be hijacked for a pissing competition.

its about risk and respect for your quarry.

Hi sean. 8shot said .22 should only be used at 35 yards MAX.blackstaff asked for an ansewer too.I gave them one and the reason why. They may disagree fair play I can live with that.it,s called debate we all have our own opinion.Haveing respect for your quarry goes without saying.Iam not saying i get 100 perscent kill rate.but if the quarry is not killed outright it is dispatched as soon as possible.

cheers

is he saying air guns today will only kill at 35 yards

i have had airguns all my life over the last 8 years or so its all down to pellets and that

i think its bull.

10 years ago i had my hw80 with the marksman pellets and it would kill at 45 yards still got it today and i would rather use it that the s400 i have the only reson i dont is the noise of it bring back the good times.

seen all the info on diff pellets and that but all this is dont on targets not real live rabbits.

any one can hit a target at 50 yards

I Dont think 8shot is saying air guns will only kill upto 35 yards. Think what he is saying that it is more accurate at that range

you will be fine with 177 my air wolf is 177 shoots faster and flatter than a 22

22 are good dont get me wrong but i think you love 177 try daystate ft pellits 10.33 grain i think just that bit heavyer bit harder hitting and still just as quick

good luck on your first outing
