richie 1
picked up my new rifle yesterday, .223 varmint with a T8 up front & a nikko 6-24x56 on top.. looking forward to getting it down Bisley in the next few weeks to put it through its paces & to find what ammo it likes... I'm going to try & get a few different makes of ammo so i can give it a good test.. i appreciate each rifle is different, but what do all you .223 shooters prefer ? also what trigger kits are recommended ? cheers.. Mr Adventure 0
Nice looking bit of kit. I take it your target shooting with it? Depending on your barrel twist, this will dictate what bullets you shoot. I use a T3 Varmint with a 1:8 twist. I use mine for game and target.I find that a heavy bullet works best (75g A-max) . A rule of thumb is the 1:12 twist light bullets 40 to 55grain and 1:8,1:7 twist for heavy bullets 6o grain upwards. If it's a tight twist barrel you should try some Prive Partizn 223 match.... very cheep and great for long range. All the best Quote Link to post

All the best ive got it down for target & vermin, but before i use it in the field i want to see what its capable of & its limits... its a 1:12 twist, so as you say, ill be using 55g max. Mr_Logic 5
Mine is the SPS tactical, so 1:9 and not in any way the same, but it likes pretty much everything. I've worked up a load for it now, first reloading challenge ticked off - 23.5 gr of AA2230 and Lapua 69gr bullet, grouping well < 1/2 MOA @100 yards. I had considerable success with Federal and Norma 40gr factory stuff though, knocking over bunnies and foxes very nicely. Also shoots Sako 50gr ballistic tip, as well as Prvi 55gr SP reasonably well. Looks a lovely rifle, I bet it will be great fun. Quote Link to post
