out lamping last night

Recommended Posts

well, i thought it would be a good night for having a shine last night with the snow about , i arranged to go out with my mate chris he picked me up at 7.15 pm and off we went , i had only just racked the rifle up and chris spotted one, it was out to the right of us on a ploughed field .

we pulled on to the farm track with the fox still on our right , i got out and got rested on the bonnet , i looked through the scope and tapped the bonnet and chris give it the full light , it turned away and started to walk off, i kept following it through the scope and then gave a whistle it spun round on a six pence looking straight at us, i put the cross hairs on his throat and pulled.. again i see it drop before i heard the bang . well done chris said, off you go your turn .

i set off to pick it up ,pacing it out on the way, when i got to it, it was a dog fox and the shot was 234 yards , i was well pleased .

when i got back to the truck chris said there is one more further down but heading towards the sea wall...... we took some pics and loaded the fox in the back and off we set after the other fox, we had gone right down to the sea wall before we picked it up on top of the sea wall .

we drove down slowly but he had gone there was no sign of him.. after about five minutes looking for the fox , i said lets drive along the sea wall, we had gone half way down the sea wall and chris picked a fox out to the right of us over the other side of the river, he asked what do you think , i said get level with it and then stop .

i got out and got settled on the bonnet again then tapped it , on went the lamp , i could see the fox lovely it was side ways on to us but well out , i had a think about when i did some practice shots down the field the other day and then pulled on to the fox again then aimed just at the top of its shoulders and pulled, this time i heard the bang before i saw the fox drop and roll into the water..... f**k me chris said, i dont believe you got that, thats got to be well over 350 yards , i had a grin on my face like a cheshire cat :D well done mate .

i said, its a shame we could not get that picked because thats one for me to remember and i would like a pic of it. but it was floating out with the tide, never mind he said come on lets find another for you :D we drove right down as far as we could go then turned round seeing nothing more on the sea wall .

we had a drive around for another hour and saw one more but it was not playing ball by this time it was getting on... and we passed a mac donalds :whistling: and i fancied a big mac and coke so chris ended up treating me :snack:

here is a pic of the one we picked
