So Are there mountain Hares in Cumbria??

I aint ever seen one, thought they were just a scotish thing..

I Have just seen brown hares

Yea just brown hares living on the fells, not your typical scottish mountain hare, move down the slopes come winter for warmth and feed, not found on many of the tourist areas, mainly more remote area. Blackcombe Beagles used to hunt this area pre ban, now hunt trails and rabbits, if you know what I mean.

Flat and boring without a hare retrieving dog on most fields around me,bit of flint in places and some rabbit burries go deep in the sandy ground.Mostly largish crop fields with ditches with hedgerows, some good commons about and good bits of woodland to.Plenty of shoots local to me and due to them not many fox's on my patch.

Gonna need a good selection of pests to control with your new pup mate, sandy buries easy to dig but can be lethal in cave ins, lost a black and tan lakie bitch years ago, cave in digging to fox.
