Guest markbrick1
could it b the dogs opening up cas of the terriers, take it easy & it will all com together, Nail on the head Stan She only opens up when with the terriers, but she is silent when alone. Trouble is, I dont get the time to give them all seperate exercise otherwise I would only take her out alone. Be great to live in an ideal world. JOEB now runin your pup i agree with as long as not to hard?? runin it with terriers is in my oppinion a no no a dog that opens up is no good full stop and runin it with terriers ???????? that is goin to cause you problems mate Quote Link to post

She dont open up alone, just with the JRTs in play mode. Im sure that you also know a lot of lads that work with terriers & lurchers together. JOEB Quote Link to post

Guest tossa
best thing to do joeb is what you feel is right , take in some advice that you feel will help you and discard the rest at the end of the day if the dog makes the grade you can feel good about it, if it fails you will not be able to blame anyone else all the best of luck with your dog Quote Link to post
dickyboy 1
in relation to young dogs does a lure do any good.....i mean rabbits my way are hard to get easy slips on so i've been swinging the the lure round to get him chasing and turning and still catching......start with he was not great as can be expected and he's never gonna be fast but his corners are getting better and he puts in a burst at the right time....as i said first working lurcher and wondered if this was right??? J Darcy 5,871
JOEB... A dog will never be ruined by entering it too late. Its spring now mate, let your pup fill out and strengthen its muscles and bones. EASY kills and confidence is what its all about. IMHO your bitch would be best not to be run until july time. plenty of dumb, young rabbits around then mate and your dumb.,young dog will just whip them up i have walked in your shoes when i was younger mate, so i know what its like to be a little impatient, luckily i never ruined a dog, but it is so easy to make them open up mate. ...look at the bigger picture, in the grand scale of things theres no rush . BUT the dog is yours and you must do what you see fit, but just cos your dog will run the rabbits dont mean you are doing its confidence any good. Run and miss enough with her mate and she will soon start pulling up....and then you will be real sick. Just advice, and its your dog, so you must see fit to do what you wish. good luck. byron 1,279
Sorry mate but her yapping only goes to show you entered her too young and easy kills you dont get on fast grass i always enter on plough or moorside where the rabbits are easy i know youve got permission but giving tongue imo is a cardinal sin and something that only happened to me once and that was due to running the dog too young pick your ground carefully and only run bunnies the dog has a chance on forget the golf course for a beginner not a truer word said Quote Link to post
