Starting a dog off

i have a 16 month bitch who not started properly yet mate but my other dog was filling the pot well with rabbits at 7 month so no one can gve you a answer really so just as little butch says but dont rush a dog into it nice and easy it takes a while to enter some dogs my bitch picked a couple rabbits up when she was 8 month but i could see she wasn't ready so held her back :victory:

I would say it depends on the make up of the lurcher,one with alot of greyhound or deerhound blood would take alot longer to mature than one with whippet blood in,IMO whippets/whippet crosses 9-12months,greyhounds/greyhound crosses and deerhound crosses 12-18months

 

Just my oponion but i think this is a big reason alot of dogs jack,due to been entered to early

All dogs different mate.

 

my dog storm had rabbits from 6month plus but he matured very fast mentally and physically

 

i have a little whippity bitch that is around 9-10months and i havnt started her yet properly as she is to immature mentally in my eyes.
