Adding a shotgun to my collection....

Recommended Posts

Hi...couldn't find and similar previous posts on this so here goes....

I have held my FAC for 4 years now, .22 rimfire for vermin etc, i also have an air rifle and have recently been thinking about getting a shotgun.

i want to try to get my wife interested and she has said she would like to try a shotgun. i used to have an shotgun licence when i was 16yrs old and a Baikal 12g single ejector. occasionally where i have permission now i disturb pigeon, crow, rabbits etc and think that adding a shotgun would give me a chance i would normally miss with my current rifles. it may also encourage my wife to have a go.

not sure what gun it will be yet, maybe just a 4.10 or 20 bore, although 12g prices arent bad. we've got a good gunsmith at standish and it will probably be a secondhand gun to start with.

the crux of the post is how to go about getting the licence...my renewal will be coming up for my FAC soon, should i apply for a seperate shotgun certificate or can a non FAC shotgun be put on my FAC... i have heard that there joint certificate but am not sure of this....

any advice will be welcomed....

When your FAC is up for renewal, apply for a Cotermineous Certificate. You fill out both forms and send them in together, on the application is a box you fill out to say it is part of a cotermineous certificate.

It is £60 as oppose to to 2 x £50, because the FEO only has to visit once.

I hope this clarifies the situation.

You will end up with 2 certificates...a FAC & SGC.

Still don't understand why this can't all be done on one certificate with different sections for FAC/SGC details...seems simple enough to me, saves double lots of photos as well...which is another joke, as my latest variation on my FAC came back with EXACTLY the same, scanned photo, as on my SGC!! :hmm:
