Can anyone help me - old gun, what pellet size?

Recommended Posts

I know very little about guns, but I need some help -

My nanny has this really old air rifle (or some kind of pellet gun). It was my uncles when he was a child, so its probably pre 1960-1965. Its a Diana, I know that much. Problem is, I'm not sure what pellet size it takes. We tried pellets in it, but they were too big. A fella in the hunting shop said its either 22 or 17. (or 177?)

I'm guessing it takes 177 pellets if the ones we tried were too big...(they're the smaller ones right?)

Any help would be appreciated.

Chap...help me out here....you may not know a lot..... BUT A fella in the hunting shop said its either 22 or 17. (or 177?) , anyone in a "Hunting shop" should be able to tell the difference EASILY...and did they not sell pellets so you could try some.......if all else fails get a tape measure out!

If its OLD the odds are it's .177 or .22, .20 is newer and .25 little used...if it isn't .22 then you don't have many options left!

Frankly, forget this Hunting Shop and find someone with some brains!!

I didn't bring it in to him, he said I have to have the license to bring it in to show him or he'd legally have to take it. (Ireland)
