harrycatcat 31
I have just bought a new laptop but the battery ony lasts about 2 1/2 hours whilst thats ok with a lot of use it gets charged once or twice a day sometimes. My old lap top was plugged in all the time as the battery was f*cked as it was 5 years old. My question is if I leave it plugged into the power when using it at home will it knacker the battery up. I only occasionaly use it away from home.
Kay 3,709
Not sure if it knackers the battery up but when i had a lap top i found the battery life crap in it from brand new so i used to run mine off the mains all the time

SwissTony 0
Shouldn't knacker it, it will get to a certain point, then trickle charge it or bypass the battery altogether. Battery technology is a lot better today than 5 years ago.
Quasar 1
is fine, when [bANNED TEXT] running from mains with the batt in - its trickle charges very very slowly then when it is full the power diverts. 99% of laptop batteries are crap and do only last a couple of hours. ideally u wanna use mains where ever possible and your battery will last longer. Malt 379
I think they run off mains power alone, once the battery's charged. (with the lead in)
