as for prey drive is that not something you learn it.

Not really mate.

Certain breeds have been bred for certain traits, and one of them in the terrier is aggression/prey drive. All dogs will do the same job to a certain degree, but you don't see people breeding small springer spaniels to use to ground do you?

(Example!)

not looking for an argument mate but to me a dog isnt born aggressive its man that makes it that way

Not looking for an argument either, but if what you say is the case why bother looking for a dog from working parents, any old dog will do?

WHY bother looking for a pup from working parents, just because the mother and father can do the job doesn't mean the pup will be able to, any dogs WILL do as long as the cross is right like i've said its all in what YOU do with it

Aye, you're right to a certain degree, but a pup from good parents stands a better chance of being a good dog.

In the right hands, a well bred dog will outshine a dog from non working parents 90% of the time, but the key words are:

IN THE RIGHT HANDS.

YOUR TALKING BOL#X GAME BREAD PITS ARE DOG AGGRESSIVE U DONT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING TO G THEM UP OR "TRAIN" THEM THY SWITCH ON THEM SELFS (NOT ALL DO AND SOME WONT FIGHT AT ALL) BUT ITS NOT MAN WHO TEACHS THEM AS U POSTED

I agree with hang and bang. Ive had all breeds from springers, golden retrievers collies, terriers. I could always get my dogs dog-friendly with a bit of socialising, I brought my staffy up in the exact same way but not a hope can I get her dog agression out of her. She is line bred out of cuilog fighting lines. Breeding makes a huge difference. Like my terrier naturally went to ground at one year old when I took him out bushing. Different breeds have different natural instincts. Like you couldnt train a poodle to round up sheep as good as a collie.

personally i like a colliex because i find the majority of them very clever and most that i have seen are great fox dogs so i guess they are all rounders in my eyes

Would you go for 1st cross or 3/4 grey?

i agree that over the years there are breeds of dogs that have been bred specifically to do a job. an all round package for doing THE JOB but i don't think aggression is an inbred trait

Some dog breeds are more aggressive than others, that's a fact, and it's no accident, but there is different types of aggression.

When some folk thing of an aggressive dog, they picture a dog that turns easily on other dogs or people. Dogs like the collie use aggression to heard sheep, guard dogs use aggression to guard, etc.

These traits are stronger in some animals than others, and are passed on.

Aggression and Preydrive are two different things.

Like dogs were selectively bred for traits. eg the pit was bred to be determined, never give up, agile, take pain, corageous, and to want to rip other dogs up. Of course a dogs temperment is decided by its ancestors. Its common genetics and when they were selectively bred to fight for years the agressive trait was obviously desirable and encouraged through breeding. They were bred to kill and had great natural drive to attack other dogs and bulls. Bull breeds are naturally more dog agressive than other breeds. its a fact! Eg if you get a labrador chances are it wont want to tear the neighbours dog apart as it was bred to retrieve and work among other dogs so that if an agressive dog came about it wasnt bred to. It was the opposite with the pit if a pup came along and grew up to be strong agressive and had great staying power it was bred to, If a bull didnt want to fight or had no minerals it was shot.

A pit will add more jaw power agression determination staying power and agility to a dog. you might say they werent bred to be prey agressive. I say bullsh1t! The greyhound was bred to chase and catch. The bull part of the lurcher isnt going to say F**k you your not a dog I wont kill you. ;)

(Edited to fix my sh1te spelling)
