anouther question on dog tatooing

Recommended Posts

Yep, if you steal a dog, it has a tattoo in ear, you don't want it identified, cut ears off, easy solution to a problem they don't care about, these shitheads steal another persons pet, they don't give a damn about 'doing the right thing' if it means not being caught then i'm sure loads of dog thieves would do it

Heard of it to stop killed greyhounds being identified, when finished racing, but never heard of it with stolen dogs,- those dogs are stolen for breeding or taken well out the area,- and usually dumped when finished with. The tattoo was how one dog was reunited with its owner 18 months later,- had been bred from.

I'd always have mine tattooed,- it won't come back without it. Microchipped also.

You'd soon get pulled walking around with your dogs ears cut off.

random question but is it possible to get "microchipped" tatooed in the dogs ear out of interest as she is going to be microchipped also, i know they put a registered number put in the ear but it would be good if you could have both tatooed in

im just worrying because i would rather never have her back than risk someone cutting her ear off if they did pinch her

also wondering she is such a drama queen, you stand on her foot by accident in the slightest and you would think i was murdering her, how do they keep them still when doing it?

Give Dave a ring on the number i gave you, and just have a chat about it. He had pups stolen one time, and all were returned, because of the tattoo, the thieves could not do much with the dogs.

I wouldn't have thought that ears would be removed in pet dogs, more likely to try and remove or cover up the tattoo as the ALF did with the Wye Beagles. The only one that was recovered had had his ears stitched in such a way that the tattoo was no longer visible if I remember rightly.

Ears tend to be removed as already said in cases of greyhounds that nobody wants identified, i've never heard of a case with pet dogs.

However, if someone wants a dog to stay hidden that badly then they will do what they deem necessary to keep it from being found and identified.

All of mine are chipped and the greys are tattooed and the tattoo is linked to the chip. I'm not sure my lurcher would handle being tattooed after the fuss he made being chipped!
