At what age would you say the best time is to enter a dog to foxes. Pre-Ban.

 

Here is my Lurcher

 

 

He is 14 Months in a week. His parents are both proven workers he is lurcher to lurcher so not sure about what is in his make-up.

Everyone will have a different opinion mate but I liked to hold mine back until they were two or more and had a good season on rabbits and such and used to catching. Then started introducing them to charlie with a more experienced dog eventually working up to single handed. But thats all changed now just use the gun now

I know boys who have got single handed dogs so when I go out with them I'll just let him rag the carcasses. Get him used to the scent and so on. Last thing I want is for him to have a bad bight and shy off.

A GOOD TIME TO ENTER YOUR DOG TO FOXES WOULD BE JULY WHEN THE CUBS ARE GETTING ABOUT THE FIELDS

YOUR DOG WILL BE GETTING TOWARDS 2 YEAR OLD AND ANY BITE HE GETS WOULD BE SUPERFICIAL AND AS

THE CUBS GET OLDER AND STRONGER HE IS GAINING EXPERIENCE AND THE BITE GET PROGRESSIVELY HARDER

BUT HE SHOULD TAKE IT IN HIS STRIDE .

That is good advice he will only just be getting used to picking up rabbits,next year season will soon come
