Iv got an SMK 19 at the moment and will be looking to buy a new gun soon, should i stick to a springer or should i go down to co2 route?

Dont want pcp as i dont want the hassle of carrying a bottle around or going to get it filled. So what do u guys think springer or co2?

If anyone could recomend a decent gun at a decent price that would be great.

Hello mate, :hmm:

Well how longs a piece of string,, a lot will be down to budget and usage, and I suppose likability,

I have CO2, PCP, and springer's and love them all, obviously the QB range of CO2 are in my opinion the best rifle for money you can get,, with a little work you will have a very accurate and powerful rifle,, the down side is though,,,its CO2, and as will all know these rifles dont perform in colder whether running of there CO2 power source,, of course there are ways around this problem one being change over to HPA in the winter, but that will come with a cost, now looking at your address I see your in Scotland, so cold conditions quite a lot I would think,, if I was you bud I would stick to a springer but like I said earlier its really down to usage,, Gamo have a good entry level of rifles that are cheep to buy and easy to make into a great rifle, and the Cometa 400 Fenix Star is a great little rifle out of the box,, well I hope this helps bud,, all the best,

Rob.

As posted before - CO2 is not really Suited for this Country

When Cold it Spurt's out liquid instead of push out Gas

Break Actions are far better as Starter Gun's

And with CO2's being made overseas expect to price to jump in coming months

as Currency Differencies catch up :o

As said, it depends on what you're needing. I use springers and co2. I've used quite a few PCPs but have never bought one as I don't think the pros outweigh the cons (for me). My Crosman XT2250 is a very useful little tool. Small, very quiet with a modarator, accurate and plenty powerful enough for field use. You get 200 shots (don't believe the 300 that Crosman claim) from the 88g bottle and so long as it's not below 5 deg.c. outside, the power won't drop off. If you buy in bulk, they're only 3-4 quid a go. That said, my main tool of choice is my HW90. Totally reliable and versatile, and as I don't trust .22 past 25 yards or so, the .177 springer gets my vote as an all-rounder. If your range is modest and you don't shoot when it's really cold though, co2 is worth a look. Good luck, mate!
