thurso jack 3
good programme, i felt sorry for him, Ali turned the media and public against him for no reason? Ali is now set for life and joe is pretty much broke how fickle the americans are to there sports stars
Edd_Wiltshire 9
Ali is now set for life!!! Heard some crazy comments in my time but that one has to be a wind up! Guy cant even dress himself let alone make the most of his money. It was a good program, gave a good insight into what a brainwashed guy Ali actually was, apart from most footballers stating him as their hero, he did have an awesome talent, but am i the only one who gets annoyed hearing him speak in the old interviews! God that would of driven me mad had i been Frazier. Was good to see that interview errupt as well, sod stepping in to break those 2 up!!! Still boxing then was an actual sport, not like today, crikey talk about a downturn. UFC has made a massacre of MMA vs Boxing, until decent fights can start happening without paying £14.99 to line the pockets of a journeyman, boxing will continue to be out for the count! brad88 133
i remember before i seen a clip of ali mouthing joe or sonny liston in a casino and they pulled a revolver out and started fireing it at ali but the gun had blanks in it and you can see ali sprinting out the casino lol he knew how to piss his opponents off lol
gnasher16 31,602
1 thing to remember about each of these legends is Frazier......chose his own path, after his career ended he was a rich man but chose to live amongst what he terms " his own people "......joe was never the most intelligent chap and unlike today back then sportsmen didnt have agents/advisors etc that would advise them financially through life, hence joe made some bad decisions with hindsight, but he has lived a happy and relatively healthy life doing what he loved to do. Ali.....was a very intelligent man...what most people see as brash and ignorant was basically the act that paved the way for all the hype and outrageous money thrown around in all sports ever since.....ali was the start of sportsman becoming celebrities,he opened up a whole new world to entertainment and he knew exactly what he was doing and where it was going. The fact we still today 30 years later talk about him and will continue to do so through future generations proves his value was so much more than a mere athlete.....fighting ability alone ali only sits a few notches above frazier, but as a historic sporting legend they are miles apart which kind of tells its own story.
