Guest JohnGalway
Hi folks, Got a friend who's getting a pup soon. But she's got an expensive kitchen table and is worried about "chewing" lol. Four seperate legs kinda table. Any thoughts on how to puppy proof it? ATB, John
mattydski 560
'Olbas Oil' on anything you dont want chewed. Did the trick for me (11years ago now, was my last puppy though)

Guest JohnGalway
Cheers for those suggestions How often would the Olbas oil need putting on? I know the pup won't be living in the house but still I imagine s/he will be in and out often enough

It just completely overloads their sensories, they cant go near it. Even when we cant smell it, they can..
Kay 3,709
I would crate the pup , allowing time out when she is there to supervise & correct the dog if it attempts to chew
Guest JohnGalway
Not sure that's going to happen Kay. I know what you mean, makes sense, I'll suggest it but I doubt it's a runner lol.
claybusers al 9
a cage is best other than that any spray like deep heat applied daily if you can take the smell or citrus airfreshener but needs be applied all the time
Kay 3,709
I wasnt keen on a cage before i got these greyhounds but the one i got has been a godsend , i feel it gives the dog a security & its his bed as well, when i had madge was in April so we had all the warmer weather to come so the doors here never get shut , and as she was new here and not broken to ferrets it ment i could have the door open all day & i didnt have to worry about her worrying the ferrets I think if a pups started off in one it accepts it as its ''safe area'' and it helps keep the pup safe from accidents especially if you have kids & times like breakfast when a pup racing round is the last thing you want under your feet What i would do is get a crate big enough to house the dog when its fully grown & pack it out with stuff while its a pup so its not to daunting for it, a small bed etc , i put some blankets on the side & back of mine to start with here so it was cozy & madge loved it The dog goes in it now as he climbs on the ferrets run if i am not 100% allert , he isnt aggressive to them just very boisterous & i dont want him wrecking the run top
