Casper & Baileys First Time!

Got a phone call from my uncle last night asking if i wanted to go and have a look with the guns at his permission in york, i told him that i had the locaters and nets for the ferrets so he said well bring the ferrets then. I got all the stuff ready for the morning when he was picking me up about 08:30.

Loaded the 4x4 and off we went me, dad & uncle got there about 09:10.

Headed off down one side of the strawberry field, holes everywere just looking for sign's of bunnys we saw a fresh set with droppings & fresh scrattings around it my uncle springer got its head down one of the holes and was fixed to it, the dog is usially a retrever not a ferreting dog but he looked fixed to this one. We netted up with 8 holes and first ferret out of the box gets to go down, Casper jumped out war dancing been a little get. Turned his collar on with the new Mk3m box (Magnetic).

Put the ferret down one of the holes about 2 minutes later we heard sqweeking and banging underground the a rabbit bolted into awating net and rolled over the springer jumped on it and my uncle necked it and renetted the hole, the ferret reaperd so we swapped them round so they get equil turns. Turned Baileys collar on and put him down a different hole and more or less straight away a big bunny bolted from a bolt hole what we didnt see, ferret was in for about 10 minutes and came back out. We decided to lift the nets and move on to a different set.

We was walking for like 5 minutes till we stoped and renetted a 5 holer enterd a ferret waiting for about 10 minutes nothing going on, the ferret poked out of the hole and we moved onto a 9 holer that i was looking forward to ferreting as there is plenty of rabbits in the but the cover was really bad.

We netted it all up and enterd both of the ferrets and steped back waiting for something to happen we wernt waiting for long when the first rabbit bolted out of nowere and of down the field if only the springer was a whippet then straight after anouther 2 out of the outher side :bomb: then one hit the net Poor thing had myxi whack on the neck and he fell asleep.

Moved onto the next set about 5 minutes away netted up put a ferret down and stood back waiting for some action, 2 minutes later something crept out of a hole, i went ferret, rabbit, squirrel, stoat! As soon as we saw the stoat come out we thought there would be nothing in there but one hit the net and kind of knocked its self out on a tree stump and qwick smack on his head finished him off.

It was getting dark and drizzle had set in, we decided to try one more set then head off back home, we netted up anouther 8 holer, enterd a ferret more or less straight away 1 hit the net, he was delt with and anouther straight next to it. It started pooring down with rain so we lifted the nets and headed off back to the 4x4. Well chuffed with them. Heres a pic, uncle took 1 bunny for the pot. Now im fooked and off in bath look forward to the replys. :thankyou:
