Cracking day out

Recommended Posts

Well after a number of problems with the retro fit mag for the Logun Solo, I finally got fed up and removed it, so a trip to a friends farm was due to resight the scope. instantly solved the two inch grouping problem, so all I can think is it was putting the pellets in at an angle and scoring them as they were pushed into the breech? So back to a 4/5 going in a 1p piece at 30 yards whilst leaning on a bale.

Sights realigned and as it was about 4.30pm I took a walk down to the wood for a spot of Roost shooting. I forgotten how fast and furious it can be some times! within 5 minutes of climbing into the Rhododrendrons the birds were coming in, landing in the Birch trees above me, missed with the first two shots then got my eye in again and started dropping birds about me. Now Tia's never been the steadiest of dogs and with the sound of a shot she's usually off looking for something to fetch, but this time she seemed to turn into the perfect airgunners dog, sat still, under cover without fidgeting forward into the open and intently watching where the gun was pointing. 'POP' a Pigeon drops and she watch's it fall before she's off to perform a very good retrieve from the brambles (she drops them at my feet, rather than to my hand but I couldn't ask much more from her!) then sat down again waiting patiently for the next.

With four pigeon and a load of rooks and Jackdaws in a pile at my feet I've got my confidence back in the gun (and Tia!!)

So from a quick target session it turned into a throughly enjoyable afternoon out with the gun and dog, often the best days I find are just an unplanned quiet mooch about on your own.

Back to the farm for a brew and a chat then swap dogs grab the Lamp and new Lidl NV Monocular then out for some Rabbits. but I'd best post about that in the Lurcher section.

Cheers for reading

Luke.
