Just bolting rabbits is something that people used to do before locaters, a few used liner's.

How many time's have you heard the term Liner jill? (Never i'm betting) Only Liner hob.

It's moved on now, and the hobs can be used with great effect, and not taking any nonsense.

If i had 3ft digs every time, i'd still do it, it's only a couple of mins digging at tops.

Just sitting there waiting for nothing to happen for 30-45 mins I would die of boredom and probs freeze to death! :D

So what if the ferret gets stuck in a stop end?

There are some you will never get Andy, Fact!

I have left 2 in so far this season, both in the last week as it happens.

If i would never have dug it would be around 300-400 rabbits this season.

Even if you think you cannot get them, the rabbits deserve the dig, out of respect at least until the ferret shows.

There lives have gone just trying to survive, it's up to us to justify that.

Sit and watch? Or at the very least try to get them?

I know what i'll do mate. ;)

Get the locater going pal, and also the spade. A little hard work reaps great rewards at the end of a day, you'll probably double your bag, (plus the moral side of it) remove the bodies! (why kill for nothing!)

If you don't fancy digging sell me your locater!

(By the way, the longest I have to wait is 4-5 minutes!)

As i previously said MW i'd know when to get the spade moving.I work jills 99% of the time & the one's i've got kill & move on,after 30 plus minutes i'll get the magic box out & see what it says.I will dig for one of my ferts if it's starting to look smelly but digging for rabbits ain't for me...

I know what Andy is up against as well Magwitch, some places, you meet a large rock, and you cannot for the life in you get through it. Only round it.

I will try my best to get at it no matter what, but i know what old quarry sites are like, huge rocks underground with a few gaps between them.

These deffo put you off!

But the thing is my friend, I would never take that long to set 20, maybe a few minutes at the most. I could probably set 50 nets in 15 mins. But you must be out of practise with the nets! haha

I could do a nice size 50-60 holer, in most probably the time you reckoned for 20 holes. But it is all meant to be how WE like so its up to you how you do it. But bolting is the way for me.

Longnet for that one young fellow! I could probably do it in 15 mins! :D You young whipper snappers need the spade to take the wind out of your sails a bit!

You will be a digger one day, you know it! ;)

Nope Brim, Im afraid i will never be a digger. TBH you are the first ive ever heard of which goes out to dig! I dont mind a dig... but would avoid it. But then again mate, not all sets have cover for them to run to. So we find quite a few hole hopping which ruins the excersise of a longnet!

I'm a fisherman like yaself B & i dig my own bait believe it or not :o I'll think nothing of digging 4ft to get a black lugworm but 4 ft through tree roots, quartz, slate for a rabbit NO.For one of my ferrets YES if I think it's looking bad, light is fading. It's one of them disscusions everyone has there own reasons why, when they choose to dig or not.But one thing for sure i'd NEVER leave one of my ferts in a blocked stop end situation.

If i wait long enough my ferrets do come out but i start the digging within about 5 mins of them not showing. My bags would be half the size if i didnt. Usually no more than 4ft but can be hard at times with big rocks and roots etc. Also i dont like the idea of leaving a kill, for the sake of a few minutes digging i would say you get bigger bags, more sets done and you arent leaving any underground. Definately worth the dig IMO
