A mate who i run my lurcher with has just housed an ex racing greyhound only 18 months didnt cut it on the track i am led to believe. He has yet to get it out and begin its training but it looks a great looking dog standin 27in.

Greys are very injury prone on rough ground and are F****rs for running in to fences or gates and injuring themselves. You need a big open field for them and this is where they shine. Some will take fox with ease, some wont.

snap I had a full grey and she used to take rabbit, hare, and fox but she wouldnt stop till she caught or hit something in the end she was taking a real beating and at 7 year old I retiered her to a freind as a walking companion and she loved it the next year she died of cancer.

RIP missy.

I wouldnt realy advise someone to get a full grey for lamping unless they want a lot of vets bills and a high turnover of dogs. And if you are getting a grey get the smallest one you can find. better turn

I run a Greyhound bitch on the lamp, and track, she game but they do get knocked up a fair bit, if your mates just got one from a racing kennel- then it’s probably still wearing it dew claws-to boot, why they leave them on Greyhound is a mystery to me anyone got the answer.

i used to run a full bred grey an irish ex racer. i gotta say i never had a prob with her, she took a few knocks but never enough to keep her out of action.

she ran well and had a brain in her heed lol, crackin dog mate she killed hares and rabbits on piece i never put her on anything else tho ( charlie and the big fella's were a bit thin on the ground!!!)

ye youre right greyhounds are offerd by the bucket full but go for a greyhound who is grade 2 or 3 or one that is coursed , don get any greyhound as puppy farmers do ,as ule see the diffrence look for strong feet no damaged hocks and see if they take a telling , see what there breeding is when i use a greyhound only once in a while i sorely test it and then i think well sheel do or not , you can see the diffrence from good greyhounds than just any one mate , lookk for strong feet and ones thtas been socalised a bit , had several and some went to there maker mso tred carefully when thye say any greyhound , all the best
