my whippet cut his stopper over 2 mths ago - its been stitched, glued and everything else that the vet could think of - it hasnt healed so the vet removed it. Has this happened to anyone before - will it effect him working?

happens to the coursing boys who run over flint regular.... pm blaze he had a bitch once lost both her stoppers she ran fine but had problems he used to run her with a pair of supports that went over the feet and knuckle... hes on the forum maybe hed be able to let you know where he got them from!!!

you can run without them but the support just gives them time to heal when a little sore etc...

:( i had a bitch with the same problem, every time she ran hard both stoppers split, i,d let it heal for weeks, run her again and the same thing happened, i started taping her stoppers close to the leg and this worked for a while, i used surgical tape, but on a wet night the tape would open and it would split again, i got them removed but it didnt make any difference, the skin had become weak from constant splitting, her running days were over :(
