lgray88 4
i use my .22-250 for seals as far as i am aware you are aloud too shoot them if they become a threat towards the stocks of salmon and also if they come in side the bouys that are surround the salmon farm site, its not legal to jsut go out and shoot them. but technically there are some loopholes in the fac that allows you to to shoot animals for the safety off other animals but most people will have a condition which allows them too use such a rifle for control of seals the minimum caliber used to be .22hornet but i think its changed to a .222 remington. the laws are changing we had a write up in the local news paper about complaints but somtimes it needs to be done no other than rabbits damaging crops etc. but there are many uses for the blubber and the liver is very good too eat. liam Quote Link to post
lgray88 4
all the seals ive shot are been shot from a boat somtimes its jsut luck when you hit themon the poor days on the calm days its not quite so difficult but not easy but theres always movement at the end of the scope especially with a big mag , its pointless shooting them if your anything above 10 the scope maybe be moveing several metres where you can see the seal. i have had a few long shots this summer but we have had a good summer with very little wind which has helped . some of the larger seals have been around 10 feet long and some small ones that have a head that could sit in your hand.
