dytkos 18,066
A couple of weeks ago a member on here, RedLorryYellowLorry posted a request for a night or two out as his hunting partner kept letting him down. Via a few PMs and phone calls we arranged for him to come down for a shine last night. We met at the arranged place and exchanged greetings, both us and dogs and loaded into mine and away to the first bit of permission. Weather started off perfect and we had had 5 when the hail came down so we finished that patch and moved on. RLYL admitted that his bitch was not fit and I thought she looked a bit heavy but she was keen as mustard and didn't miss any of her first few runs (apart from the one that I slipped into that would have made safety otherwise!). Drove to the next farm and the weather went warmer and stiller and brighter. We had another mooch round with both dogs catching a few but RLYL's dog getteing the majority, taking some out of the seat with style. My bugger however was getting ultra competative and was trying too hard, running without using his head and generally making hard work of the rabbits he was catching. As we got back to the farm my battery ran out again (is it just me?) so I ditched it and we continued to another farm across the road where the rabbits were very spooked. We had seen 3 badgers and 1 fox during the evening but something or somebody must have been about as the rabbits here are usually wary but not that wary. Headed back to the motors and went back to mine for some refreshment and a yarn with a view to having another go in the near future. Here is a poor (even by my standards) end of night pic. We had 13. Cheers. D. Quote Link to post
