Hi Mr A.

Some lovely pictures and nice rifles!

I am looking at buying the sauer in .243, as an owner what tips/hints on model, moderator, trigger and bits and bobs have you got?

Why do you feel the Tikka didn't group as well?

Good pictures there also a nice shot of those pinks.

What range were you using for the targets you shared with us?

Do you use a butt bag? I know at this time of the year (especially where you are) when you are cold and trying to shoot straight, the results can be disappointing.

Not being picky, but referring to the Tikka, are you giving the rifle the right sort of barrel clean? Asking as rifles have a habit of a build up of carbon in the throat (which you wont see with the naked eye) and normal cleaning will not remove this carbon. In fact there is really only one substance that will do the job easily and quickly - that is JB Compound.

Also perhaps your chamber needs a good scrub - if the chamber is coated in crud then a chambered bullet may not align its self 100% with the bore.

Storing your rifle with the mod left on is not always a good idea as the condensation from use can settle on the barrel's crown and the result can be an eroded crown which is a common cause of irreparable loss of accuracy with the only option then of having the expense of re crowning.

Just my 2p worth - and perhaps food for thought

CWB the Sauer is not mine it's Mattydski's, so he would be the man to ask. I shot the pish group with the Tikka on the pink square's. :icon_redface: The range was sighting at 100 and then back to 200yds

The bad group was me, I was out on Friday night to much drink! :drink:

The Landy is Mattydski's (Rich Man).

To clean the Tikka I use bore foam, brush and a mop.

I also do a bit of target and I use the bags for that, as you see the bags done nothing to help my grouping. :icon_redface::icon_redface::icon_redface::icon_redface:

Glad you all enjoyed the pictures :clapper:

Cheers :victory:

So Mattydski,

If you were to buy your .243 all over again what would you buy and what would you add, change or remove?

Ehm, good question.... Mine i got for a price, a good price. They are now very expensive. Would i spend 1300 on 1 now. ...No..

I'd go elswhere.

Does it shoot well.Yes. Do i like it? Yes. Mine has a set trigger which some like, others dont..

It has a smooth bolt, good feeling stock. etc. It does feel better than a Tikka or similar.

It was out in the pooring rain today, and has been on numerous occasions, and no rust whatsoever..

Mine isnt balenced with a PES mod, so thats what i'd change. But the PES does a cracking job on the performance side. No complaint. Not tinny..

In my case, nothing will be changed.

If your nearby, you can try it..
