i have a lurcher pup 6months old,it lost half a tail when it was 4weeks old would this have any effect in its hunting, thanks

Not a lot. I've seen hares taken by dogs with just stumps. the dog will grow up without a tail and adapt to it's self.

My cousins whip x Grey had his tail bitten off at the age of 2 in a public park by one of those ugly things called "Staff's" which was off the lead and owned by someone in a council flat who didnt give a toss about his dog!

Anyway you could see the difference in his running, turning, and strike abilities for a short while. He soon was catching again.

So dont worry mate, they do adjust in their own time
