Rolfe 2
No Stuffed Koala Bear......or Aboriginal inscribed Boomarang brought home for me from Australia.........Nope.........an antique rat trap was much more in keeping me thinks. Based on our "Little (big) Nipper" design it has a conical shaped very powerful spring mechanism that i have not seen before. Maybe OTC can say if it is a common spring to use on this break-back type of trap? Rolfe. Quote Link to post
OldTrapCollector 377
It was manufactured by STANDFIELD, A.W. PTY. LTD. between 1950-1970 and there are a number of minor variations of the trap. It was made in rat and mouse size. The conical spring is typical of that type of trap. OTC Quote Link to post

Steve Albano 21
Hey OTC, an idea why the conical shaped torsion spring? Is it just supposed to look cool, or does that conical shape have some functional value over a regular tubular shaped spring? Quote Link to post

When set it becomes more cylindrical. It has no other specific use and would just have been the way they were. OTC Quote Link to post
