Guest MOLLY
Sometimes its worth looking for the not so popular makes. (If you are bothered about 'image' dont bother reading on) You can get everything and more for a fraction of the price. Im not saying they will be the ultimate best off roader, but unless you are constantly off road why would you need the ultimate? Ive recently bought a Daewoo Korrando. Its ideal for around the farm, in and out of fields with the dogs. I dont know how it would be in the worst of worst extremes, but as you said for the average dog man/woman it suits me fine. I reaserched it before i bought it and the biggest fault was depreciation, it has a mercedes benz engine, full leather interior, electrics etc etc. In the same garage a Mitsubishi several years older was a grand more to buy. http://www.parkers.co.uk/choosing/carrevie...x?range_id=1013 http://www.wisebuyers.co.uk/motoring/car-r...(1999-03)/1056/ MOLL. Wilky 0
I like the Isuzu Trooper 3.1 TD, mine did 30 MPG and I've never had it stuck, it was a SWB MK2 on a K 93. I have heard though that the 3.0 newer model, S reg onwards have a crap engine. That said I'm running an L reg 205 diesel now just for the terriers and I've never had that stuck either and it's not for the lack of trying and it easily does 50 MPG, run it all week for a tenner and it leaves the family car clean and sweet smelling. Guest Dillon
We all know the best for off roading is the Landy, but unless you have a good few quid you don't get too many home comforts a good one for the dogs is the 130 crew cab, I'd go with the fourtrak or the swb 2dr Nissan Patrol (1992) Parts for The fourtrak are ridiculous however the Nissans a bit cheaper. Rabbithunter 456
New Road Tax means you will be charged in excess of £200 for a year's tax. Buy a van, a Vauxhall Combo is a nice little van. Alternatively if you want something bigger, a Fiat Scudo/Peugeot Exper/Citroen Dispatch are good van's, with a good MPG i get 40mpg out of mine

lucky 578
i'd go for a fourtrack, i've got a comercial one at the moment, there very good off road, probably not as good as the landrover but theres a massive difference in price when you compare the 2 on the same year. and i think the fourtrack engine as a lot more power i would'nt even consider a vitara, but one motor that is very budget is a lada niva, imo they can hold there own against any 4x4 the only downfall is there petrol but with them being only 1600 or 1700 cc i would'nt say they would be heavy on juice

Rabbithunter 456
id never reccomend anybody buying a petrol engined vehicle. With diesel you can get some 'cheap' diesel if your using it off road only. Or you can apparently use the oil that you put in chip pan's.
Guest mucker
Defender for me to when i get it back on the road. had a few 4 tracks n they take some beating, great on juice nice drive, but they rot well.
roache 0
I have a disco 4 litre V8 with LPG. Run it on petrol is like throwing fivers out the window, however on gas I average 180 - 200 miles on £20. Roache
