Tiff 36
my 6yr old staghound bitch had broken one of her canines last year pulling wire, we changed her kenneling and she adjusted how she held quarry and all was fine until now. Now she's snapped off the second canine, and basically can't hold toothed quarry properly anymore. She's taking decent beatings where before she was ace. I like the bitch and don't like seeing a dog take punishment when she shouldn't, and feel she's got a few good running years yet. I have seen and heard of caps/implants ... anyone try these or have any stories about them? A Mal called Dizzy that I fostered and placed with a bomb detection unit had a Titanium tooth ... freaky looking but quite expensive to do I recall. mods move to medical/health page please, posted wrong spot! Tiff 36
KEEE-RIST! This was the response to the inquiry I emailed ... "The procedures which would include consultation, IV catheter and Fluids, general anesthesia, antibiotics, pain medications, a complete dental prophylaxis and examination, all dental radiographs, root canal therapy including Restoration, and medications to go home A very rough estimate for 2 root canals on a medium to large dog is $2,500-3,000 If crowns are done at the same time, it would be about an additional $2,000. If only crowns are necessary (which I doubt), it would run out around 3,000. Please note that crowns require a second anesthetic for cementation approximately 2 weeks following the initial procedure. Also, we do recommend a pre-operative work-up prior to anesthesia." never mind, the bitch can gum everything before I'd spend THAT type of money!
