i was woundering if someone could point me in the right direction into which type of lurcher i would need for rabbiting. i dont want one that is going to be to big but fast enough to catch rabbits and have a bit of stamina too. i was told to get a whippet but ive been told that they are fragile and can run for long before they get tired. is this true?

whippet x bull. we have two here and very happy with them. good little rabbit dogs and a nice size at 21 inches.they are only 9 months in the pics and have shaped up nicely now at 16 months and a season behind them. they are little pocket rockets and have plenty of wind. its the first time ive had this cross and only got them as a starter for my young lad but i am very suprised at how they have turned out :good:

What kind of ground will you be running your dog on? Will it be mainly heather or mainly arable or grass - if grass - short pasture land or rough longer stuff? This makes a real difference to teh kind of dog you need.

the ground around me varies, but alot of it is mostly sand dunes with patches of open grass. but with a bit of luck i will get permission soon over better land i.e open fields surrounded with woodland.
