longrange 0 Posted October 21, 2008 Report Share Posted October 21, 2008 A remote island,has taken up arms to fend off rabbits, 5 crofters on LEWIS in the western isles have been lincensed to blast the bunny population as it grows out of control, The rampaging rabbits have stripped valuable grazing grounds for livestock in the north isle, warrens have destablised many of the sandy plains, known as "machairs" countryside ranger jullie stevewright said , we fear for the public's safety we are using shooting as the very last resort. but ADVOCATES FOR ANIMALS say the rabbits SHOULD BE REGULATED ? riggers 2 Posted October 21, 2008 Report Share Posted October 21, 2008 when the sheep on north ronaldsay were grazing the grass too much they pushed them onto the shore line and built walls hence the reason north ronaldsay sheep can live on sea weed. Control the rabbits with gun and ferret, put a boat on and give us the details shut the island off for the week end and put the barbeque's on and i am sure there will be a list of us who would go for a wee hunting life meet up week end Quote Link to post
