ghillies 209
nice shooting, have you tried night vision yet? you'll be well suprised whats still about. i have got alittle hand held one but am going to invest in a scope but i want to get a gen 2 and one that snaps on and off if possible but untill then its up to trusty little debon mini to do the job and yes its a rapid mk1 the first type with a right handed stock well observed timelord even a litle hand held gives you an advantage, i've played peeka boo a few times with the digital night ranger thing, lamp on the rat runs behind something, lamp off, a few seconds and out she comes again...lamp on, straight back in....lamp of..etc etc etc... similar with some rabbits, the second the lamp goes on they panic.. you'll be needing a rail, weaver or dovetail rail to screw into the rapid top, if it;s been reported then the front mount screw base may well be a thread inside a screw, a few think it wise to get three more holes drilled through the rail and into the top of the gun just behind the mag slot, to prevent the screw threads getting pulled out... a couple have told me how strong the screws are etc, but we're on about the thread in the aluminimum action here. (like an average of a kilo in weight for dedicated NV scopes. Personaly i'm inclined to agree that at least two holes are required but beleive the advise of three would be better.. too late when/if the threads rip out.. (after thoughts on that..maybe some glue..hmmm desolvable with something..hmmmm...). look in the rapid mfr tab http://www.pmcb.co.uk/sitefiles/Pages/Theo..._Converter.html or try mickle tawn on ebay or google, i've misplaced the site address sorry.. theres a couple about. with a dovetail rail you'll nead weaver to dovetail adapters unless you can get a dovetail mount with or made for NV devise. theres some nice gen2 stuff about, no doubt your reading up on it.. you might want to ring or email these people, theyre in the UK and referbish some gen2 units for 200 quid last time i looked.. others you'll be look at a big bill for a new tube.(might want an illuminater any way, it's well nice to catch that eye shine..not to bright for close up stuff though, it glares the image a bit, or so a few have said). http://www.nvscopes.com/image%20intensifie...%20rebuild.html battery types.... cr123's cost a bit from some places etc.. but if your going to do ratting with it makes sure of the minimum focus... some are 20 yards nearest visibility, on an airgun it's worthless..even as a spotting scope. side isues are the scope heights, theyre well hi up for the boggo standard stuff.(makes the climb on the ret serious for sub first zero ranges..) topshot 0
and yes its a rapid mk1 the first type with a right handed stock well observed timelord 10 years ago I had a MK 1 12/200 .20cal with an ambidextrous stock on it and I've got to say they are fantastic hunting machines. They knock spots off all the BSA's Webley's, Air Arms etc etc out there on the market. I've ordered the S-TYPE in .177 last week and it should be with me in 2 weeks from tomorrow. How do you find your Theoben MK 1 to use? And what caliber is it you are using? hi mate its an exerlent piece of kit i have had itabout 5 years now and wouldent part with it its in 22 cal and it is so simple inside makes serviceing simple and if anything goes wrong its never too hard to fix although at firs i was a little bit causious of takin her appart. hay ghillies thanks for the advice on night scopes i have done a bit of reserch but that helps allot Quote Link to post
